After a long wait, Bob Bradley and US Soccer have announced the 20 USMNT players traveling to Mexico for the match on August 12th.
Goalkeepers: Tim Howard, Brad Guzan
Defenders: Carlos Bocanegra, Jay DeMerit, Oguchi Onyewu, Jonathan Spector, Steve Cherundolo, Chad Marshall, Jonathan Bornstein
Midfielders: Michael Bradley, Ricardo Clark, Clint Dempsey, Landon Donovan, Benny Feilhaber, Stuart Holden, Jose Francisco Torres
Forwards: Jozy Altidore, Charlie Davies, Brian Ching, Conor Casey
(Matthew missed two from his preview. He had Pearce over Marshall and Beckerman over Torres. I hope that having Marshall on the squad means Boca gets sent out wide.)
Now, let’s ratchet up the excitement…

So this match is seriously not going to be televised in the US?? ESPN is showing live studio coverage but will not be showing the game. The only channels it is on are ones that I do not have (Telemundo, etc.). Very disappointing. I imagine there will be live streams on the web, but I have to work at this time and I was looking forward to recording the match.

Matthew,
NBC / Universal / Telemundo is offering mun2, the english language feed, as a free preview on 8/12 to all providers. Many providers have stated they will carry mun2 for free that day including DirectTV, Dish Network, Comcast and Time Warner in some areas.
(But, yes, it is disappointing it won’t be on ESPN.)

I just spent like 20 minutes on the phone with Time Warner. Everyone at the call center is absolutely clueless. I’ve searched the web for how to view this match and it looks like it isn’t going to happen. Supposedly someone from Time Warner Cable’s sports scheduling department is supposed to call me but I’m not holding my breath. Since I live in redneck Ohio, we don’t even have the option to get Telemundo/etc, so I don’t know what is going to happen. F*** ESPN and FSC for not getting the rights to this, especially ESPN since they are the only ones with HD channels in my area.

Sorry to hear, Matthew.
I must concur that Time Warner is Top 3 all-time in worst customer service. Every rep has a choose your own adventure-esque script (i.e. if they say “this,” you say “that”) and don’t talk to you like humans. (Rant over!)
I am not up with online streams, but there have been games on justin.tv. While it is easy to find fault with ESPN or FSC most of the time, it doesn’t seem like it was there fault this time.

Unfortunately ESPN360 probably didn’t get the rights: http://espn.go.com/broadband/espn360/schedule
But you’ll get a dose of the Italy – Switzerland game.
Not sure how old you are Matthew, but on the US Soccer site there are a list of bars that are televising the game as well.
As an alternate note, in case you didn’t know the Mexicans have moved the game up to 3pm EST — they say to avoid the rains; we say it was to increase the heat (with the altitude)
Pretty lame; we know.
