The Gooch Watch: Silva Out!

Silva....we're just one Nesta misstep away

Silva....we're just one Nesta misstep away

Update 1: Match starting now on FSC. Gooch in 18, but not starting.

We’re on full blown Gooch Watch over here at TSG.

And while we don’t wish injuries upon anyone other than Gio Dos Santos and the entire Mexican team (and maybe a few others–we’re kidding on all fronts here), we are “saddened” by the news from Goal.com that starting center defender Thiago Silva is out for what looks to be three games for A.C. Milan.

Before we call in Oguchi, he’s going to need to make his case, in practice, that he is a better selection than Kakha Kaladze who Milan looked to deal earlier in the year (mostly for financial reasons), but who also deputized for Silva on Saturday against Bologna.

We’re just one Nesta limp away from big guy getting himself some run.

On another note, both Jonathan Spector, for West Ham, and Michael Bradley, for Bo………Munchen!, played 120 minutes and 90 minutes, respectively today.

  5. Gio Dos Santos went off with an injury in the 16th minutes of Tottenham’s Carling Cup tie. Remind me not to mess with you guys.

  6. Seriously, according to Sky Sports Score center they’ve got Gattuso playing as a make-shift left back over giving Gooch the start in the center and having Kaladze play out there. Tell me it isn’t so. If that’s a vote of non-confidence I don’t know what is. It’s not like its worked out so well for Milan so far since they’ve already conceded.

I see both Zambrotta and Oddo in the starting line-up–so I imagine Sky has it wrong.

Confirmation: The game is at half and available on ESPN360.com — I’m watching some replay right now.
Gattuso is up the pitch in the midfield.

The Udinese goal very pretty with Milan getting abused on Zambrotto’s left flank. Ball was played to the middle, the right winger snuck behind and ran onto a through ball, Gattuso made the recovery all the way from midfield, but got deeked, 1-0 Udinese.

80th minute and Milan has used all their subs — down 1-0, I wouldn’t expect Gooch, but on to October 4th hopefully.

I was really pullin for Gooch to get some min. in that one. especially with Honduras rapidly approaching.
And what the hell happened to Milan, wow they are struggling bad. Maybe Gooch is the answer to all there problems.
