Starting XI: USMNT vs. Slovakia

new_usa_Bradley seems to be going with who he knows. Looks like someone is going to be playing out of their natural position in the back four as a result.

So much for using this friendly to see what the newcomers can do.

GK: Guzan

DEF: Spector, Bornstein, Bocanegra, Cherundolo

MID: Rogers, Bradley, Dempsey, Feilhaber! (Matthew, the ! after Benny’s name is required now, right?)

ST: Casey, Altidore

BEN: Conrad, Kljestan, Goodson, McCarty, Cunningham, Hahnemann, Eddie Johnson

Is Marshall not fit? He didn’t even make the bench.
Is Spector really a better option in the middle than Goodsen or Old Man Conrad?

Same thing Matthew and I are wondering. We’ll pass on info as soon as we can find one.

John, channeling my inner Bradley, here is my “possible” thinking–I’ll caveat it with I think Chad Marshall should have definitely started.

If I’m Bradley, I’m using the USMNT friendly to take a look at new things. I’ve got Jimmy Conrad who hasn’t played in weeks; so he’s out. I’ve got Chad Marshall who played one game back from injury after a few weeks, so he may not be super fit yet–he’s not even on the bench.

And I’ve got Clarence Goodson who was good in the Gold Cup but doesn’t have a lot of reps.

I’ve also got Johnny Spector who has trouble with speedy wingers, but I like his service and ball movement on the field.

One line of possible thinking…that said…would have liked to see CM.
