Next Stop: All Whites & Hobbitville

Cruisin' the Zealand

A quick note to the TSG community, that yours truly will be–sniffle, sniffle–on sabbatical for a few weeks recharging the batteries and spending time with the significant other.

Come Thursday evening, I’ll be New Zealand bound with my lady and camper-vanning aroud the South Island  for two weeks taking in some sights, surfing, and…..soccer! Actually, we’re going to try and get to a soccer bar for the World Cup draw.

Our TSG production schedule will be just a tad lighter, but we’ve tee’d up some guest contributors and I have some columns that we just took out of the freezer and are thawing. Don’t worry, they’re still fresh.

Have a happy, healthy and filling Thanksgiving.

Matthew

P.S. Watch out for a killer piece coming this evening by our first guest contributors followed up by a cool announcement from the TSG mothership tomorrow. It’s going to be a great end of the week.

I think it’s actually the house of the All Blacks, and the all whites are just renting a room until 2010

    Ha.

I would suggest the Whites are on very tenuous credit as well.

I can’t wait to promote the American outlaw flight deal to south Africa. I already know that it won’t be united who charge you $200 one way to fly a surfboard and then make you sign a release that allows them to damage it.

United is worse than …hmm…. US showing in 2006.

Sweet Jebus….who flies United anymore? You are going to that neck of the woods and not flying the new Virgin service? You’re better than that, Matthew.

      Have a great trip.

Good to hear you’re heading to our utopian shores. If you can arrange it, be in Wellington on Dec 4th, there is a Wellington Phoenix home game which I’m assuming you’ll be in NZ for (as the World Cup draw is 7AM the following morning). The ‘Nix are the top professional football team in NZ and play in the Australian A-League.

We have a few ex-MLS players in our ranks (Tony Lochhead, Diego Walsh) as well as Tim Brown who played for the Richmond Kickers and Uni. of Cincinnati.

Our usual pre-match venue is the Backbencher Pub on Molesworth Street, directly opposite Parliament (not hard to find). We’ll be there from 5PM onwards. I’m part of the Yellow Fever* executive so can help you get oriented if you like. Contact me on the email address provided if you can make it to Wellington!

Ben, thanks for invite. I know Matthew is mostly unplugged (on purpose) on his journey through your great land, but I have forwarded on your email in case he checks it.

For those reading along at home, Yellow Fever is the supporters group of Wellington Phoenix.

(I’d like to say I knew that already, but I must admit I went to he ‘pedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wellington_Phoenix_FC)
