Update: Thank you kindly Jozy Altidore and Maurice Edu for getting the word out.
It’s Charlie Davies Awareness Day here at TSG….
CD9 Salute En Francais ∞ CD9 Salute En Español ∞ CD9 Salute In Swedish
A few months ago The American Outlaws, The Shin Guardian, and most importantly, you reached out when Chuck Davies needed some support.
It not only sparked an event at the final qualifier game in RFK against Costa Rica, but it helped bring US fans around the world together.
Let’s do that again for Charlies Davies, let’s push him on as obviously the man has been pushing himself on with one goal since last October: to get back on the field for club and country before humanly possible.
If you support and have Twitter, just click here and to retweet @charliedavies9 the following message: “Make It Happen @CharlieDavies9! CD9 in 2010! #CharlieDavies”
We’ll try to make #CharlieDavies a trending topic.
If no Twitter, link to this on Facebook or plaster the video below somewhere, online, offline, write it on a bathroom wall….
Tell your friends, brothers, sisters, parents, grandparents, the girl or guy you like….
We want to let Charlie know we, the fans, appreciate his efforts on behalf of us.
All about awareness….
…and please, share your comments below.
Hopefully you’ll buy into this, again, with The American Outlaws and The Shin Guardian.
Thank you.

This is Matthew.
Man, I just remember what a great job the American Outlaws guys did coordinating everything last year…but maybe more than that how quickly the American fanbase mobilized….
….and I can’t believe the drive of Charlie Davies…unreal…magical.

nice to see i wont be the only one rocking a Davies 9 for this years world cup.
also retweeted the above message, get the word oout!!!

I would also like to say your comment about bringing all USMNT fans together through this, what happened to CD9 and the following support has personally cemented my passion for our national team, before i would watch the games but that was about it, no following players, reading websites (like this one) etc. Now i hit up your and other sites daily, i follow Jozy, Charlie, Donovan etc on twitter, I own a Jozy jersey, and am a member of AO, yes the confed cup helped grow my intrest in my hometeam, but the accident with davies, is what really got me stuck in.
With tragety also comes togetherness. Its like my mom used to say, “that bone you broke, when it heals will be twice as strong” just like in life when somthing bad happens somthing twice as good can come out of it”
Posted by Bob on 2010/04/06 at 6:56 AM
Everything that Ryan said counts for me as well. I never visited a soccer blog until the Confederations Cup and never really hit the soccer sites or the listened to the soccer podcasts on a daily basis until the 9th minute salute campaign.
Now – I and my family will be driving 9 hours on Memorial Weekend to view our first USMNT game live, wearing some kind of USMNT shirt in support. Thanks for creating a venue that unites all USMNT fans, and for creating campaigns like these that keeps the buzz of U.S. soccer high and motivated.

@Ryan: Great comment….

An absolute incredible comeback so far, and he continues to fly when he should still be relearning how to walk. Through adversity are our true natures revealed, and Charlie has shown himself to have the heart of a lion and an unstoppable drive to compete and prove all the doubters wrong. I wish him nothing but a speedy recovery, as he is an amazing man.
And thanks to the US fan base for rallying so quickly and convincingly behind him. The work the supporters organizations and the fans in general have put in has been amazing.
Can’t wait for this summer! Go get em Charlie, and let’s go USA!

It really is a remarkable and moving story, and the video is awesome.

Great story, video, and tribute. Keep up the good work. I too joined the AO within the last 6 months. It’s a great support group. Let’s go USA!

Loving this video and this concept; Just another example of why this site is the best one out there for US fans. Already linked it to FB and may have to sign up for Twitter just to RT it. Keep it up CD9 and can’t wait to see you on the field!

Even Jonathan Wilson is giving CD the love today in his piece on Barca v Arsenal first leg:
“The arrival of Walcott disrupted Barça’s pressing because Maxwell, like Pranjic, suddenly began looking over his shoulder (in a similar way, Charlie Davies’s diagonal runs behind the full-back were a key to USA’s victory over Spain at the Confederations Cup because they prevented Sergio Ramos pushing forward and so made Spain very narrow in midfield).”

Fantastic post — Fantastic Blog — Fantastic Video
This kid is amazing. If Davies puts on a uniform in South Africa, there will be no excuse anyone could give that would be good enough not to play 110% and give him a win.

You guys just got some love from Ives.

Awesome photo! I love the diversity; middle-aged white guys, young latin american males, white girl who’s more interested in her coffee, and middle-aged latin american males all supporting CD9 and i’m assuming by proxy the USMNT.

This is awesome guys. Davies is really an inspiration to me; whether or not he makes the team in South Africa he clearly did not let his setback get him down and went right back to busting his balls to get back to where he was. Get well soon Charlie!
Posted by Josue on 2010/04/06 at 10:13 AM
Charlie Davies is making a miraculous recovery in time to be in South Africa. It will be nothing short of amazing when he suits up and is in the starting XI against England. ONE CHARLIE DAVIES! THERES ONLY ONE CHARLIE DAVIES!!!
Posted by Zach on 2010/04/06 at 10:43 AM
Yo fellaz, this is Zach from AO, fantastic work on the tribute, truly truly inspirational and done with class as always. Cant wait to see CD9 when we land in Africa and to see all of the Outlaws that make the pilgrimage to SA.

The US Soccer community is so strong and so in-tune with each other. Today is amazing.
I said after the accident that he would be back. Friends called me crazy but I said there is nobody in this entire world with a stronger work ethic, determination, and fitness. I always knew he was going to be back and he is so very close to doing it. I ALWAYS believed.
May the Stanky Leg Boys tear it up in South Africa. It’s gonna be the dance craze that will sweep the World Cup. They could be the deadliest striker duo there.

I remember Charlie as a little boy playing on the same football team as my nephew and when we heard the news of his accident everyone at home was stunned. We are so happy he is doing well and we will be awaitin his comeback! Were all so proud of him!

How nice of Leo Meesi to show up with gifts galore on Charlie Davies Day. I won’t ruin the score for anyone recording to watch later, but he’s reinforced his current status as the most sublime talent of his generation.
