    Great story — gotta email ESPN and ask Jeremy Schaap what country the pre-MEER-ship is in though.

    I wish they had brought Dempsey’s goal celebrations into the piece…would have been a great celebratory angle….

    Yes…but I can’t find the specific article (might have been a live interview) that had it.

  6. Did they really have to do a TMZ style opening to the piece? C’mon ESPN, you’re better than that. That being said, I like Schaap’s comment about the “regimented youth system” in the US not typically producing players of Dempsey’s caliber.

      You mean a player than can make it to the preMEERship…..sounds like a cruise liner.
      And are we sure that ESPN is better than that?
