Donkey Kong! The Don’t Tread Video Contest is officially underway sponsored by The Shin Guardian, the American Outlaws, The Yanks Are Coming, and Concave soccer cleats. You gotta love Concave stepping up even through they’re out of the UK–thanks guys!
For the next week, ending at the stroke of midnight PST Thursday morning June 2nd, the eight videos below you will compete to be the absolute winner of Don’t Tread Challenge for the most insanely awesome video that gets fans, uber and wagon jumpers, flat-out FIRED UP for the USA in South Africa.
But….what’s more important about this contest is you….yes YOU the voter can send this post or one of the videos to that cute girl in the corner office or your uncle who only roots for Univeristy of Texas football and get them fired up for the biggest USA sports event since….well Germany in 2006.
We’re angling for serious voter count.
To the victor go the following spoils:
• 1 American Outlaws “We Are Not Sam’s Army In the Stands In Hartford” scarf
• 1 The Yanks Are Coming, well, “The Yanks Are Coming” t-shirt
• 1 pair Concave soccer cleats
• 1 mystery prize from The Shin Guardian
And all this will ship quite quickly to be there in time to be all dolled up for June 12th.
The rules are simple. Each “reader” (by IP address) can vote once per day.
SHARE THE POST! or just SHARE YOUR FAVORITE VIA YOUTUBE.
The goal is promoting the team and in turn on of these fine creators will get some USMNT goodies.

First, awesome contest. Second, awesome entries. Thanks to everyone who participated. That got me fired up for Philly, not to speak of the Cup. Finally, I won’t say who I voted for, and it isn’t a knock on any of the other entries– but I’ll say it wasn’t close. At least for me. Good luck.

I’ve fallen in love with #4…the elegance, the drama, the ending…and of course, EXALIFTIN

Probably this question is too late but what about voting for top three? Winner, 2nd, 3rd get prizes. I get that the prizes might not be as great as 1st place but just a thought. Also if there was a way a poll for your second place pick, and one for your 3rd place, then maybe a point system could be awarded to them (i.e. 1st = 5, 2nd =3, 3rd = 1). Tally all points and decide top three winners. Now I know that would be some work for TSG but just thought giving so due to a few more of these great videos would be cool.
Anyways whether or not this happens. I really have appreciated all these videos. My top 3 would be:
1) Wave Flag Wave
2) The Speech
3) We’ve got ourselves a game
I think these all were done very well. I am just a sucker for the slow inspirational ones. Which ones does everyone else like?

Well, of course I want to win this very cool contest, so I voted for myself: #4. But I will say I loved both #1: “The Speech” and #5: “We’ve Got Ourselves A Game.” The pacing in both of those videos was pretty damn good.

Lots of great stuff here — watching these was great way to spend my lunch. I won’t say which I chose, but I will say that K’Naan is tops.

(#5 for me)

5 is a great video of the Spain game, but to me it’s missing the hype factor. 7 gets my vote b/c it gets the adrenaline flowing at the end. after watching it, I’m ready to head out of the tunnel onto the pitch!

I get goose bumps every time I watch #5. . . . and I mean EVERY time. Its the best. Really gets you excited for June 12.

The build up and crescendo of #5 is so inspiring and motivational it makes me want to stand up and cheer every time I see it. It could bring a tear to an emotional person’s eye. “We’ve Got Ourselves A Game” is truly the best of the lot.

#5 – We’ve Got Ourselves a Game is the one for me. It sums up where we are as a team – the US dominates at so many sports and many hate that we are such a super power – except in Soccer, Football, Fussball. Futbol – we are still ascending and fighting for respect. The “world powers” in this sport don’t want us to win, but in that typically American way, we believe in ourselves and don’t listen to those who say we can’t, we won’t, we shouldn’t be able to… hey “We Believe!” and in S Africa, we’ll show everyone that because of that belief in each other and a refusal to be intimidated, “We’ve Got Ourselves a Game!”

I watch #5 – We’ve Got Ourselves A Game at least twice a week and before every USMNT game.
If that video doesn’t win in a landslide, there is some voting fraud going on.

We’ve got ourselves the game. I think I’ve watched it a hundred times. Great music paired with great voice paired with great vid. This is a completely different kind of test where passion has a funny way of trumping logic. It’s the Don’t Tread Challenge.
Posted by sam on 2010/06/08 at 7:48 AM
Would say we got ourselves a game, but the speech is stolen from a versus commercial. With that said im voting for #4
Posted by phil on 2010/06/10 at 11:05 AM
as a non-soccer fan other than the national team, #5 gets my emotions going like nothing else

Here’s another video I came across that got me a little amped up for 2014 already. The Production value of this made me feel like I was watching a hollywood trailer.
