Game 4 Group E – Cameroon versus Denmark

He leads the line for Denmark and dates a Baroness! What deal with devil did Bendtner make?

PEEEEEEP – And sadly Cameroon are the first team to be eliminated. They did play well but Cameroon’s final ball left a lot to be desired. Denmark now need to beat Japan in the last game to progress through. The Dutch are ensure a place in the next round.

3 minutes of extra time

88:00 – The Cameroonian forwards certainly made the wrong choices when it came to cleats as they keep slipping at very important times.

85:00 - Wave upon wave of attacks by Cameroon are being well defended by Denmark, but Cameroons final ball lacks the precision to tie up this game.

82:00 – Probably the most open game of the tournament so far as its end to end action. Aboubaker has a rebounded effort deflected for a corner.

78:00 – Aboubaker on, Webo off for Cameroon.

77:00 - Emana charges into the box and shoots but Sorenson does very well to save diving to his left and palms it away with one hand.

72:00 – Bassong off and Idrissou on. An attacker for a defender. Cameroon going for it as they should.

71:00 – Denmark ever so close to make it 3-1 as Tomasson is clean through by Paulsen and Rommedahl, but the keeper does well to make himself big and parries it away.

68:00 - Cameroon passing around the ball for over a minute around the Danish penalty box, but Denmark playing a bend don’t break like defense and are not allowing anything dangerous to happen.

66:00 - Makoun skies a ball. That was a great chance for an equalizer as Eto’o who has been immense today, cuts back from the byline and tee’s up Makoun.

65:00 - Cameroon relentless on attack but must be careful not to give up the counter.

63:00 - If Cameroon lose they will be the first team to be officially eliminated from the World Cup. M’Bia sends in a cross that Webo jumps high for but his powerful header is just wide. Cameroon need to go for it here.

61:00 – GOOOOOOOAAAAAAAL. Rommedahl. Denmark after a great Cameroon attack that Webo doesn’t quite connect. He gets the ball down the wing and is never pushed out wide and sends a curling effort beyond a diving Hamidou.

58:00 – Eto’s slides the ball to Webo who skies the ball in attempt on goal. That was pretty remarkable how high in the air the Cameroon striker got that ball.

52:00 - Kjaer’s shirt looks like it’s missing letters.

50:00 – Agger takes a free kick but it’s straight at the wall and the rebound comes to his fellow center back Kjaer who cracks a furious drive that goes just over the bar. Should have been a corner but it isn’t given.

48:00 – The sloppy defending is making for a highly entertaining game as Cameroon crosses and people try and clear at the same time, the Cameroon forwards miss it. The ball finally arrives to Assou-Ekotto but he is well tackled.

46:00 - Sorenson does very well to save a great header by Mbia from a corner.

Tweeet – Denmark start the second half.

Peeeeep - An entertaining half comes to end

43:00 – Cameroon repay the favor with sloppy defending but luckily Denamrk weren’t expecting and the African nation clear and it goes straight down the other end and Emana tries his luck but his shot is saved by Sorenson.

42:00 – Assou-Ekotto is caught miles out of position and Rommedahl turns and jukes and sets up Tomasson who shoots and Song does brilliantly to block. Then on the other end terrible defending by Denmark gifts Eto’o who side foots and hits the post and comes out.

39:00 - Things settling down for both countries now.

33:00 – GOOOOOOOAALLL. Bendtner slides and touches the ball into the back of the net after a great run by Rommedahl who sends a slide rule pass straight on the on rushing Bendtner. Cameroon 1 – Denmark 1

32:00 - Cameroon playing some  lovely football around the Danish penalty box but the Danes organized defense does well to cut out any penetrating runs and passes.

29:00 – Emana lets the ball run past which has his defender over commit. He looks for someone to pass too but eventually decides to shoot. He chose poorly.

25:00 - Denmark now beginning to boss the midfield but Cameroon is playing a well organized defense.

17:00 - Better from Denmark as Gronkjaer latches and one times a cross that is missed by everyone else but it is deflected wide. Off the corner he tries a diving header but it feebly goes wide.

13:00 – All Cameroon as Emana tries his luck from distance and it goes just wide.

10:00 – GOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAL. ETO’O. Terrible defending by the Danish defense as Sorenson passes to Poulsen who is immediately pressured and pass out wide and it is intercepted by Emana who centers to ETO’O who slots it easily home. Cameroon 1 – Denmark 0

7:00 – Rommedahl latches onto a beautifully weighted pass and bursts into the penalty box but his shot goes high and wide.

5:00 – Opening minutes are being controlled by Cameroon who are moving the ball nicely but their final ball is weak and poor.

TWEEEEEET – Cameroon immediately attack and get a nice cross in that misses everyone. Rebound comes to Assou-Ekotto but his shot was was blocked.

Brilliant for his clubs (back to back Champions League winners), but not as prolific for his country says his detractors.

Lalas – you wouldn’t notice subtlety or sly humor if it danced naked on a table and punched you in the face.

So feel free to put all comments on today’s games here.

Sorry for no commentary this morning. I never intended to the Dutch/Japan game but fully expected to get up and do Ghana and Australia but the conversation with my body went something like this.

Shaun’s spirit and soul: “Time to wake up, watch and commentate on this exciting Group D game”

Shaun’s body: “NO EFFING WAY…We had a deal. You do that last shot of Tequila and I get to sleep in”

Shaun’s spirit and soul: “Sigh…you’re right”

Yeah, I’m watching on univision.com, but it’s not nearly as good as espn3. I didn’t think this one would make it on ABC. For me it’s either watch over the air or online (and I don’t receive abc), and this is a laptop match for me =)
I thought that every game was being shown on espn3…

I think they are putting all Saturday afternoon games on ABC. This was the USA-England slot last weekend.

Wow, times are a changing. 4 years ago I wouldn’t imagine the day would come where ABC would put a Saturday noon time slot to just any old WC match =)
Damn! What are Cameroon doing? Put that crap where it belongs!

Yea, because if they wanted to move it back to ESPN, then they would either have to drop or move to ABC a game from the College Baseball World Series or NASCAR (a Nationwide race).

Am I the only one who finds Bendtner extremely annoying? I just can’t get excited about Denmark because of him. Good lord univision.com sucks.

Cameroon with a dominating presence, but Denmark with the lead. Cameroon on the verge of elimination here.

Now Denmark just needs to beat Japan and the Group E part of my bracket is complete. Denmark’s D was shoddy though. Gotta fix it soon.

I know this isn’t the right thread for this, but I found it so strange I had to share it.

Off topic but TSG should do a group stage review(when it’s done of course): surprises, underachievers, and more!
