Mathai On Brian Namoff

TSG photog Matt Mathai captured a stunning recent and historic image of Brian Namoff.

Here’s Mathai on Namoff

Bryan Namoff, a much-beloved defender at DCU, suspended his career today due to post-concussion syndrome. We’re going to miss him terribly.

I chatted with him in the tunnel before the match and he seemed upbeat about his new position in the front office.   He’s still holding out some hope of making a return to the field.

Mathai: I always liked this shot of Bryan holding up the US Open Cup trophy when we won it in 2008.

How old is he and how exactly did he develop the Syndrome?

  2. He’s 31. I don’t recall exactly when he played his last game, but it was in 2009.

You develop the syndrome by taking trauma to the head. It can be collisions, falls, even heading the ball.

      Wow I would’ve figured that he’s in his mid-to-late 20s if he’s considering returing.

Should’ve been more specific: I was referring to specific incidents where he was concussed. Just curious because this caught my attention.

      • He loves the game and loves to play. That’s the main reason he became a fan favorite.

I’ll see if I can find out what incidents led to this.
