Fulham Set To Name Manager; Bradley Being Extended?, More

Not getting his own Cottage in London....

A BBC report (so if you go back to our transfer rumor equation piece) is out suggesting that Martin Jol (heavens forbid) and Sven Goran Eriksson are the lead candidates for the Fulham manager role vacated by Roy Hogdson.

According to the report–this not from the book of we told you so–it suggests that Bob Bradley’s contract may be extended by USSF.

Neil Buethe–who is doing yoeman’s work traveling with the woman’s team–was nice enough to provide some feedback and context here.

“I provided the BBC writer with a statement yesterday that he seems to have interpretted incorrectly. The BBC report is misleading.”

Per Buethe, Bob Bradley, Dan Flynn and Sunil are in preliminary discussions right now with what is best for U.S. Soccer.

It would be incorrect to characterize these discussions as “extension talks.”

I read that rumor about Bob being extended on Football365 this morning and tried to track it down anywhere in the usual suspects of American reporters. I didn’t find it. Good to know that it was just misinterpreted because it would be a shame if the English reporters got that stuff before the US media did.

I think Fulham fans need to be realistic and get off cloud-nine. In a nutshell, Fulham over achieved last year, and did generally well under Croydon-born Hodgson. Whether they would have sustained that this year is anyone’s guess. I don’t think Martin Jol did that badly at Spurs, it’s just that they craved CL and finishing 5th again wasn’t an option. I think Glenn Hoddle or Alan Curbishley would be good choices.
