Update: Maurice Edu Escapes Serious Injury

UEdu, felled by Rankin

Update: Rangers says Maurice Edu has a bruise only and he’ll be kept out of the this week’s game as a precaution.

———-

No magic spray for Edu. Tests to be done Thursday as to the extent of damage.

Maurice Edu was stretchered in the first half of the Glasgow Rangers’ 3-0 loss to Hibernian–yes the Rangers lost to Hibernian…at home!–in the Scottish Premier League. Edu was cut down by a John Rankin tackle and remained down for until he was helped off.

Rangers coach Walter Smith on the club web site: “Maurice took a knock on the knee, and at this stage we’re not quite sure how bad it is. It’s obviously quite painful for him, and we’ll have to wait until the morning to find out how serious it is. …… Until we get a look at him tomorrow, we won’t know for sure if there is any major damage or not.”

I just hope he moves to a better league soon. He doesn’t want to end up like Beasley. Constantly hurt, out of form, etc. He is built a little more solidly than Beasley and is more suited to the SPL than him, but still tackles like the one he suffered last year are what makes the SPL a little dangerous.
