….and Juan Agudelo draws the PK. Nice off-the-ball run.

    Henry misses the PK. Oops.

        Agudelo drops hammer, scores goal.

Gentlemen, the hype monster needs more.

I should note for fairness that Ream and Miller have both been very good, as has Sutton in goal. Henry has had some nice passes but nothing in the way of direct goal threats.

I hope he doesn’t score when Red Bulls come to Philly, but keep it up Juan! Especially when you’re playing for the National Team!

Should I assume 723 Football Films is making an “every touch” video accompanied by Handelian Hallelujahs or should we specifically ask?

The hype monster takes away: Brek Shea, playing at centerback, with a red card (ruled last defender on goal) after an ugly first touch gifts the ball to the Fire’s forward.

Hopefully he gets more looks there. Even if it takes some time for him to learn the position, it would be in his best interests to play CB. That is his future

Unrelated- Has anyone seen Gooch at LB? How has that been working out?

    -so many emotions today-

    Charlie Davies with a brace!

That horrible tackle on Stuart Holden!

And the Philly Union looking much better for 15 minutes- with technical difficulties though MLS Direct Kick is worthless- all I’m getting is the broken up Houston radio feed!

Thought Nowak made some odd decisions: why no Mwanga to start? why is Mwanga withdrawn right now in a playmaker position? What’s with his weird Kyle Nakazawa indulgence?

I didn’t understand the starting lineup either. I hope the lineup was decided due to the fact that it was the opening game of the year on the road. Mwanga needs to be starting. I was not impressed at all with Ruiz tonight- I’m sure he’s going to have some games with multiple goals and others where he kind of mails it in. Hopefully, Okugo gets some more playing time as well. I didn’t get to see much of the 2nd half though with the technical problems. It was switching between the Houston radio feed then the Houston TV feed, and then the Philly TV feed and everything in between. It was nice to hear JP Dellecamera and Taylor Twellman for a few minutes. It sucks that I live in central PA. I don’t get to hear them bc I don’t get the local ABC feed or Comcast.

    • God it seems has something against Holden…in a related note the man upstairs is looking out for MB (not Houllier though)

Hope Holden is ok and it is just minor but this really puts a damper on the anticipation excitement for the USMNT friendlies. Still looking forward to them though.

I was so angry at that Evans tackle. It seems everytime that a big USMNT game comes around a corner something happens to Stu. He’s my 2nd favorite player after Deuce and I was really excited to see how he was going to be worked into the lineup.

I hope the injury is minor so he can get back to help Bolton in the FA Cup and on the push for Europe…. and more importantly for the USA in the Gold Cup!

That tackle was infuriating. Does anybody know how bad it was? Is there any possibility of him making the Argentina match? If not, I guess that simplifies the midfield crowding momentarily, albeit in the worst possible way. Sigh. Pull through Stu!

(Also, has everybody seen the news about the new third kit in red debuting for the Argentina game? Awesome!)

Charlie Davies nets two as DC United goes on to win 3-1. La Barra Brava were great, and with new players such as Davies, Dax Mccarty, and Pat Onstad, change is in the air in DC, GO UNITED!!

dc united is going to be the team to beat this season. there is almost no doubt perry kitchen is a monster and has such a bright future. this kid is bow legged and quick and has some serious get up. dax is just getting the feel for dc united style and when he does, look out. dc united handled columbus with ease and they did not even deploy their dp, branko baskovic. dc united has serious quality all over the pitch. when najar learns to cross the ball better, he will be almost unstoppable. dc united is ridiculous.

then there is charlie davies and his second goal was vinatge davies.

  8. Dominic Oduro has unfortunately confirmed what we already knew when the Dynamo resigned hi…even when put out on a plate for him, he’s not usually going to finish. *sigh*

We need a true striker in Houston in the worst kind of way.
