Looking for a big game from Wondo tonight. Already a goal on a questionable pk and with the 10-v-10 a great opportunity to get back on a goal scoring roll.

Paul Pogba is an impressive player. There’s no way Ferguson could’ve given him playing time with United? Especially considering he had to haul Scholes out of retirement?

I never understood that whole situation between Pogba and Ferguson. Pogba was on the bench a decent number of times last season in games that were already decided and he still didn’t get on the field. It was also strange to me that Ferguson didn’t try to loan him at some point since that is his usual m.o. for breaking in younger players.

Jozy got his second brace in two games. So four goals in two matches. If he doesn’t start vs Jamaica I will break something

Jack McInerney’s passing is underrated. Like his game quite a bit.

How many times must DC United look disorganized and loosey-goosey without Boskovic for Olsen to realize what a necessary component Boskovic is?

I realize this statistic isn’t as meaningful in soccer as other sports, but I bet Branko Boskovic’s plus/minus is up there as one of the best in the league.

Mark Geiger has been a joke today. What a terrible joke.

I wrote this before the two reds. This has been one of the most one-sided reffing performances I’ve ever seen.

This has been some of the worst officiating that I have ever seen. How the hell is that a retake???

And two reds for DC really?

The final Geiger count: two goals ruled out, two red cards….And I hate those refs who get horribly technical/legalistic with stuff like encroachment but fail to deal with physicality, which he was unable to do all day. Not one to complain about refs, but that was an absolute travesty.

Anyone know what Boskovic got the red? I don’t think they ever showed the replay.

Dudar’s was justifiable, if harsh. Both of the yellows on Williams were jokes.

It sounded like Roger Torres grabbed the ball after the first penalty maybe to get into DeRo’s head or whatever and Boskovic shoved him pretty hard, presumably in an effort to get it back.

I’m also interested in what Bill Hamid was so steamed up about at the end of the game and why McDonald was laying into Korb (if that’s who it was).

    Disallowed goal: bad call
    Retake pk: correct call

If I was a DC fan I would go bat-shit crazy, but United kind of screwed the pooch on this one. No reason to encroach, no reason for Boskovic to push Torres for that red, and there’s never a good reason to go in studs up. DeRosario probably should have stepped back and let someone take that second PK. DeRo knows better and you could tell his mind was racing in the run up to the kick.

  15. I was at the Sounders – Whitecaps game. Great atmosphere at the stadium and a good buzz pre-game. Jealous that NYRBs doesn’t have that and probably never will [given how isolated Harrison is].

Will be at the Portland game next week too, another Cascadia derby.

I’ve said many times before even as a philly fan that I wish each team could have the atmosphere they have in Portland and Seattle. That would enhance the league’s status even more.

Enjoy your trip in the pacific northwest.

So I just saw on YA that Stuart Holden did not play in Bolton’s opener due to his knee injury. It’s almost been 11 months now since his last procedure which I thought was to keep him out 6-8 months. Has anybody heard any update on Holden?

Asked the same question and did some interphishing last week and….crickets….Owen Coyle references him as one of two players who would be like a fantastic midseason signing when he returns.. I don’t like all the quiet around him…

Still don’t understand how cartilage tear wasn’t found during the first injury rehab..until he came back for one match and promptly announced the “new” injury…hope like hell he can come back from this to some level approximating his prior injury form…

“An Injury Setback for Stuart Holden

      By ANDREW DAS
      Published: September 28, 2011

The American midfielder Stuart Holden, who returned to Bolton’s first-team lineup last week after missing six months with a knee injury, will miss at least six more months after a setback. The club said in a statement that a routine follow-up on his knee revealed cartilage damage. ”

We are now almost 12 months from last September. I have not seen any other updates since this NY times article.

The silence is either ominous or they are just being extra careful.
