Just released. Simple? Effective? Old crest.

Looks great. Best uni in years

I really do not care- just win!!!

Not quite what I was expecting Nike to come up with…
Posted by Nicholas K on 2013/03/01 at 9:40 AM
I like it. I’m a collar fan, but probably in the minority on that. Best part is the crest. Let’s make it permanent, and earn a couple of stars above it.

Ditto on the crest. LOVE. IT.

All day. Best thing out of Nike in a long time.
Posted by dth on 2013/03/01 at 8:00 PM
Nike’s France jerseys have been pretty good.
Posted by Sean Tuxill (@thebostinian) on 2013/03/01 at 10:06 PM
Yeah…but…but…it’s France. I can’t give props there, not to a national team that effectively walked out on its coach mid-tournament.
Posted by dth on 2013/03/02 at 11:44 AM
Nike can’t help Anelka being a dick.

I used to love the French national team (Zidane era) but I can’t stand any of their players anymore especially Nasri- well Cabaye and Gourcuff are okay. I can’t help but getting each one of their new jerseys though because they are so clean. Love the last three home and away jerseys from France. They wear nice plain (almost can’t tell its a soccer jersey) or with Zidane on the back (current).

Not sure how you could ever wear another country’s kit!!
Posted by Sean Tuxill (@thebostinian) on 2013/03/02 at 7:30 PM
I’ve got an Argentinian Messi and a Brasil Socrates…I rarely wear them. Especially since the Messi one went through the dryer and half the lettering is gone. That said…there are some I would wear on a regular basis, but I would never wear a different country’s kit during a competition that the US was in. But for something like Euro 2012? Well…that might be a bit different. And I’ve rocked my Socrates for pickup disc from time to time.
But I can count on one hand how many times I’ve done so. Whereas my US jerseys get plenty of burn.

I like getting kits from practically every country I visit. Sometimes for professional teams, sometimes for the national team- I love my Tanzania kit I got last year. I still have my 10+ year old Zidane kit from the first time I visited Europe. I have WAY TOO MANY soccer jerseys. Its probably a huge waste of money but its one of the things I collect. I mean I have enough Dempsey jerseys and USMNT kits to last the two weeks in Brazil next year.
I rarely ever wear them as well- usually just in pick up games, etc. Although now I can wear them to work, lol (California rocks) even in an office environment, and there is another guy who literally only wears soccer jerseys to work- he has enough to last two months without wearing the same one.
I do know what you mean, though, George.

The Aussie jerseys are pretty good, too. Love their crest as well.

Love that they kept it simple and classic. If they going back to the flying soccer ball crest after this I may stab someone.
Posted by Nick on 2013/03/01 at 1:29 PM
I like the simple, but I expected a bit of nuance to be in there somewhere.
Posted by dfstell on 2013/03/01 at 9:49 AM
I love it. LOVE the crest. A million times better than the “other” crest. The only downside is that I really like our “hoops” shirt too. The current kit that I hate is our ugly away kits.
We wore the hoops what: 3-4 times?
Posted by Nicholas K on 2013/03/01 at 9:54 AM
I’m opposite there. Love the away (like a Navy Arsenal) and can do without the Waldo’s.
Posted by gino744 on 2013/03/01 at 10:15 AM
I think these should be the template for all future kits. Well done.
Posted by Alex on 2013/03/01 at 10:28 AM
I love it. Hopefully they go with blue shorts for games but thats just my personal opinion. The crest is just beautiful
Posted by johnniewebster on 2013/03/01 at 10:35 AM
We are not England. Nice crest, boring kit.
Posted by TWEW on 2013/03/01 at 2:28 PM
I feel like a lot my club team kits during highschool looked just like this, sans the crest…..
Posted by Crow on 2013/03/01 at 4:54 PM
Agree with the above- love the crest, and really like the kit in general. Really clean. Lets just switch to this.
Side note- really love the Union’s alt 3rd kit (black Bethlehem Steel FC/ alt BIMBO logo)
Posted by Paul on 2013/03/01 at 7:53 PM
Yep. Looks classic. Not easy to fudge up in the future. Distinct and unique in the international game. No “nuance” for Nike to re-interpret in future iterations.
Posted by Nick on 2013/03/02 at 7:32 AM
How is this distinct in the international game? Germany and England are two pretty prominent teams that wear fairly plain white home shirts…
Posted by Sean Tuxill (@thebostinian) on 2013/03/02 at 7:40 PM
Well, England is white with a minute bit of red trim at the neck. Germany has the black adidas piping on the sleeves and the black/red/yellow lines across the chest (a much better look than our beauty pageant sash). Ours is styled like a ringer tee, though it looks better than most ringer tees. I’m interested to see how it changes if they decide to make a blue or red one for the away kit.
Posted by Paul on 2013/03/02 at 12:48 AM
Boring. I hate all white. Give me the red/white hoops. Very American, evocative of the flag. And distinctive, doesn’t look like anyone else. White could be anyone, most countries seem to have a white jersey even if it’s not the 1st choice.
Posted by GeorgeCross on 2013/03/03 at 8:29 PM
Is that the best crest and kit Nike could come up with? It’s pretty horrendous tbh.
Posted by jpon87 on 2013/03/05 at 7:41 AM
It’s not what they came up with, that’s the original USMNT crest
Posted by jpon87 on 2013/03/05 at 7:43 AM
It’s not exactly what they came up with. That’s the original USMNT crest.
Posted by Crow on 2013/03/03 at 9:03 PM
Darn looks like I missed the boat this time. The American Outlaws patch included for free sold out the first day it was available it seems. Oh well. I’ll just have to get one without this time.
I just realized I never picked up a home Dempsey Spurs kit from this year (which I love the design). They don’t seem to be available anywhere now.
Posted by cmac on 2013/03/06 at 12:52 PM
It’s a white shirt.
Posted by JGD on 2013/03/11 at 9:37 AM
The best kits are generally the simplest. This is clean and the crest is infinitely better than the standard USSF badge (improving on that badge is not a difficult task in the slightest). I’ll likely purchase this kit.
It’d be nice to get a more form-fitting kit, as we did with the Waldo kits. The early ’00s loose shirt look is old and tired. Though we’ll see how they actually look on the field, the in-game product might indeed be more form-fitting.
And for the record, France has had the nicest kits for a couple years running, Nike or otherwise.
Posted by john Morgan on 2013/03/11 at 6:26 PM
The crest is good and I think they could’ve done more with the blue trim. not so thick? but most importantly we stuck with the white. which is a good thing. for better or worse that’s the “color” we’ve worn for the world cups. it’s not as memorable as the canary yellow of brazil or baby blue stripes of argentina but at least it’s something. it’s a tradition. when mc bride scored against mexico in ’02 he was in white, when donovan scored on the counter vs. brazil in confed cup he was in white and against algeria white again. and when altidore scores in the final vs. brazil hopefully he’ll be in white too
