Last time in torrential rain, this guy was influential.

Just about getting time for the bus to roll out.

Who starts? Who finishes? Who scores? Starting line-ups soon….

Raise your hand if you had Orozco-Fiscal starting. Be honest.

I like the line up. Too bad Altidore is hurt, but it does open up a spot for Donovan. I agree that EJ brings his game best off the bench.

If we are up at 60 and Jones doesn’t have a card he is subbed for Cameron.
If down or 0-0 at 60 we see EJ/Aron for ? Basically I see this as a play to win the game at the start.

Bradley out with a sprained ankle. Starting to feel nervous here.

    I guess it’s not Saprissa.

  6. Gonzalez + Fiscal = HUGE weak link

Wondering whether Mix for Bradley would have been better than moving Cameron away from crucial area of Costa Rica’s prime attack area

Half time may not be too early to bring on Mix and/or Brooks. The D needs to be stabilized.

Cameron + Jones + Beckerman equals no creative offense whatsoever for the US.

For 45 minutes it looked like the entire back line was made up of four Jonathon Bornsteins.

OMG!!!! I haven’t yelled out loud in frustration in what seems like ages for the USMNT.

  8. On first observation, I think Gonzalez is more of a liability than Fiscal in the first half. Gonzalez is not closing down but more importantly positioning and tracking Campbell is causing him fits.

Amazing yellow on Altidore at the end there. Just crazy that we lose him for Mexico, especially now that we’re back in the must-win world. Losing Bradley + the goal 2min in just plain shook the team and we never recovered.

  13. So Cameron, Besler, and Altidore out for Mexico on yellow cards.

Welcome to Concacaf qualifying AJ and Brooks. Is Brooks ready to pledge allegiance?

    Bad – Lose game.
Worse – Lose game and have your best player injured.
Worst – Lose game, injure your best player, and lose several key players on suspension.

    Anyone else need a drink?

Even worse, you have a chance to cap-tie a budding defensive player and you decide to throw on another attacked when the game is basically over. The least Klinsi can do to slightly rectify his earlier poor decisions (Orozco-Fiscal, Dempsey alone, Johnson for Zusi, ect.) is cap-tie Brooks. This assumes, of course, that Brooks agreed to being cap-tied tonight.

Can’t see Brooks playing his first game in Columbus – I’m guessing Goodson gets the callup. We may indeed see Johannson though, but you better believe Mexico is coming in with something to prove after losing at home. They may be a bit disjointed, but we’ll be missing at least our top scorer and possibly keystone midfielder.

I’m guessing Mix gets the call at mid if Bradley can’t go – and even if he can, maybe he still gets the call for Jones.

  16. One plus, Mexico is shaky and Gerardo Torrado will be out with a yellow. The center of the pitch just got more open for the match. Crossing my fingers for MB90+ to rise up like a phoenix and squash El Tri. If not Jones and Beckerman/Mix will have to raise their game.

  17. I think this match all comes down to Tom Patton’s jinx miss-phrase above “At this point I think it would be unwise to trust Klinsmann. For one night anyway……” Tom, if you hadn’t apologized right away, I would be convinced that you had had laid a hex on the hex ;)

      Sorry Eric-
1.did not know Bradley was going to twist an ankle – that really hurt – hope he is healthy for Mexico because he is our most important player period.
2.did not know CR WAS GOING TO LOOK LIKE AN ON FORM REAL MADRID FOR 1ST 25 MINUTES. CHRIST THEY WERE ON FIRE-BRILLIANT STUFF.
      3. DID NOT KNOW ALTIDORE WAS GOING TO ACT LIKE A 16 YEAR OLD FRESHMAN IN 92 MINUTE.
      4. HAD NO IDEA JONES WAS NOT GOING TO GET A YELLOW CARD-SHOCKER OF THE NIGHT
      5. WAS RIGHT ABOUT DEMPSEY THOUGH-NO 1ST TOUCH ALL NIGHT. (MLS)
      6. HAVE NO IDEA WHY MY CAPS BOARD WILL NOT UNLOCK FROM CAPS

FACE IT- WE GOT BEAT BY A BETTER TEAM ON A NIGHT THAT CREATED FAR MORE CHANCES AND THERE IS REALLY NO ONE TO BLAME BUT WE WILL FIND VILLAINS ANYWAY.

I saw a German to English translated news article that Brooks was only going to be available for the first game to be back for an important Friday night game for his club.
