I Am No Manchester United Fan, But…

Rhymes with "trybaby"

I’ve now given it 24 hours…and I’ve probably missed it somewhere, BUT with Real Madrid dismissed from the UEFA Champion’s League field by Lyon, not a peep out of Cristiano Ronaldo or the press that covers him.

The same Ronaldo who uttered these words last year after his Red Devils squad was bounced in the Champ’s final by Barca:

“We had 10 [good] minutes and then we never found ourselves again,” he said. “The tactics were not good and everything went wrong.”

Man United lives to fight another day. Real Madrid, what say you Ronaldo? Since this is what you said beforehand:

“At the Bernabéu, Madrid are the boss. It would be a huge disappointment to go out but I’m sure we will progress.”

Sir Alex 1, Ronaldo, squat.

How much money is Barca going to throw at Miralem Pjanic now??

    • its not completely out of the question. toure yaya and keita might be on the way out. Barca loves young players, and also Pjanic could be attracted to Barca by the possibility of being an understudy to arguably the two best midfielders in the world in Xavi and Iniesta

Anybody who is Madrid’s kryptonite is welcome at Camp Nou, but it seems that their resources will be focused almost solely on Cesc, and I say rightly so.

Cesc is a Catalan, I would be surprised if he went to Madrid – if he goes, it will be to Barca – the Spanish Crystal Palace.

Plus if you look at the basic facts, he wants to win things – Madrid have been knocked out of the CL at the last 16 for 6 years in a row. Arsenal have done considerably better. Plus, he loves his life in London.

I am not naive, I know that a lot of tapping up goes on behind the scenes, but Perez blatantly doing it in the media is out of order. The fact that they spent so much money last summer with no improvement in the CL is highly amusing!

  4. It’s not a coincidence that clubs building their entire system around one player, leaving the team tactically unbalanced, (Stevie G, Cronaldo) don’t do so well in Europe. The Kaka problem is that he and Ronaldo pretty much play the same position. Up at Liverpool, it’s the same story with Gerrard and Aquilani.

Madrid are a real life fantasy football side.

Absolutely. Look at the two recent managers that they “sacked” who were successful but didn’t play with enough flair…

I’ll give you “All that is good and just in the world: 1, Cristiano Ronaldo 0”
Otherwise I’d say Lyon deserve a little more credit than merely delivering Fergie’s just deserts to Ronaldo.
PS The weekend isn’t the same without a soccer globe.

This is a definition of schadenfreude.
