Reinstating An Old Award & Creating A New One

Okay, TSG, or rather home of your long-running soccer series, features, comment hall of fame…awards.

We already have the Kick Flip to the Face Award with Eric Wynalda taking down two of these thus far.

For the new folks here it is:

To balance out negativity of this award, we introduce the “Ante Up” Player Of The Weekend Award given to the match player of the weekend.

The inaugural winner?….

The First "Ante Up" Player Of The Weekend at TSG

The Chicago Fire’s Sean Johnson preserving a win on the road for his squad against the Galaxy at HDC. Congratulations Sean.

Each weekend–at the end of the weekend–we’ll take nominations for the “KFTHEF” Goat of the Weekend and the “Ante Up” Player Of the Weekend Awards.

    THAT’S my SON!

Why wouldn’t he recognize a run-up throw-in and duck? Now he’s gonna look like his mother.

    • OMG, harsh? lol…

      • you can’t deliberately try to block a throw in, his unsportsmanlike and a yellow card offense lol

I’m loving how the line judge decided it would be best to provide two-legged sympathy, THEN feel free to swat his butt.

Yes, concern for the kid…but does one usually straddle a teenager doing pushups?

Connor is correct, that is a yellow card offense, he is supposed to give 10 yards, just like everything else.

I think the incredibly sore face and the completely destroyed pride is just as bad.

Well-deserved for Sean Johnson. Remarkable that Brian Perk was selected above him.
